Plainsight is a public website about creative and production software. There are no accounts and no sign-in. The only personal information we ask for is an email address, and only if you want the newsletter. We take no payments, we run no advertising or tracking scripts, and we don't set cookies.
Email subscription. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store the email address you give us, a unique unsubscribe token, timestamps for when you subscribed, confirmed, and (if applicable) unsubscribed, and which newsletter cadences you are opted into. That is the entire record.
Delivery events. If an email we send to you bounces, or you mark one as spam, our email provider tells us and we record it. See section 5.
Usage data. We use Vercel Web Analytics to collect aggregate traffic figures — which pages were viewed and where visitors arrived from. See section 6.
What we don't collect. No names, no passwords, no profiles, no payment details. There is nothing to sign in to, so there are no credentials. We take no payments, so no card details ever reach us.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address. We do not use it for advertising and we do not hand it to advertising or affiliate partners.
Subscribing is double opt-in. When you submit your address we send one confirmation email and nothing else. Only after you click the link in it do we mark you as confirmed, send a welcome email, and begin sending the newsletter. An unconfirmed address never receives a newsletter.
Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link and standard List-Unsubscribe headers, so your mail client's own unsubscribe button works. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately — we mark the record as unsubscribed and it is filtered out of every future send.
We send email through Amazon SES. When a message hard bounces, soft bounces, or is reported as spam, AWS notifies us over a webhook and we record the affected address, the reason, the message identifier, and any diagnostic text the receiving mail server returned. This is personal data, so we are telling you about it.
We use these records for one purpose: to stop sending. Suppressed addresses are filtered out before any send. Hard bounces and complaints stay suppressed; soft bounces stop suppressing after 72 hours, since they are usually temporary.
We use Vercel Web Analytics, which reports aggregate page views and referrers. It does not use cookies, we do not use it to identify individual visitors, and it does not follow you to other sites. We do not run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, session recording, or any other third-party tracking script.
Plainsight does not set cookies. There is no sign-in, so there is no session cookie, and our analytics does not use them. That is also why you will not see a cookie consent banner here — there is nothing to consent to.
We may earn a commission from affiliate links to the products we write about, at no additional cost to you. An affiliate link is an ordinary link: following one may tell the merchant that you arrived from Plainsight. Which products appear on this site, and in what order, is decided by the community evidence we collect — never by whether a link earns us anything.
We do not currently run display advertising, and there are no ad network or ad tracking scripts on the site today. If we add advertising, those partners may set their own cookies and collect their own data under their own policies. We will update this section before that happens.
Most of what Plainsight stores is not about you. Our pipeline reads publicly posted threads and comments from online communities (currently Reddit) and stores the title, body, selected top comments, the poster's public username where the platform provides one, and an engagement count.
What we publish is derived analysis — how often a tool was mentioned and with what sentiment — alongside short verbatim excerpts, each attributed and linked back to the original thread. If you posted something publicly and would like an excerpt of it removed from Plainsight, email us and we will remove it.
A scheduled background job sends public community post content — titles, bodies, and comments — to our AI providers (OpenAI and Anthropic) to work out which products are named, how the poster feels about them, and to compute embeddings used for grouping.
To be explicit: this runs over public posts only. Your email address, and any other personal information you give us, is never sent to an AI provider.
Each receives only what it needs. Your email address is handled by Supabase and AWS and goes nowhere else.
Data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with encryption at rest and in transit, and every connection to this site uses HTTPS. Subscriber records are read and written only by server-side code; the database is not reachable from your browser.
We keep your subscriber record for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep the record with an unsubscribed timestamp rather than deleting it, so we don't accidentally email you again later. Bounce and complaint suppressions are kept for the same reason. If you would rather we erase your record entirely, ask us and we will.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing us at littleaiprojects@gmail.com. You do not need an account to make a request, because there are no accounts.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change — in particular, before we introduce advertising — we will update the date at the top of this page and notify newsletter subscribers by email.
